about

This was the first complex song I wrote on ukulele (it is, arguably, still rather simple). It's about a true ghost story; a couple called Henry & Clara Rathbone (stepbrother and stepsister, but they didn't let that stop them) were seated next to the Lincolns on that fateful night at Ford's Theatre. Henry was stabbed and survived, but the song tells the story of how he lost himself to madness after the attack, eventually reenacting the events of the Ford's theater attack in his own home and killing his wife in the process. Yeah, I used to tell ghost stories in front of the White House - that's how I learned this one, and it haunts me in all the best of ways.
